There are a plethora of “Tycoon” games on the market. The smartphone market is flooded with them, Steam has a ton, and there are new ones hitting the cheap deals stands at Walmart on a near constant basis. Lemonade Stand Tycoon, Airline Tycoon I and II, Chocolate Tycoon, Zombie Tycoon, DinerTown Tycoon, Offshore Tycoon, Hotel […]
On PC, there's City Game Studio though it's in early access, but similar type of game with a bit of a city area for buying locations and studios. There's also Game Dev Studio though I haven't played it. I recently got Game Dev Studio after it was recommended by someone in a different thread - it's certainly better than Game Dev Tycoon.
If you get a 9+ game and make the same Game again, it will only have a score of around 5, if you choose a different topic and genre, you will score about 7. Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon was notorious for how much crack-protection it had which would break the game. Firstly I take everything good about game dev and crank them up ( 160+ topics, 23 genres etc). Combine in elements from other tycoon style games like price sliders / language packs / ai companies / stocks etc.. Pepper in some of my own ideas like delaying games to hit balance, case studies, topic deep-dives and more.
